CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Said has a wealth of experience in leadership roles in marketing and communications across Oman as well as the region. Said has progressed through various management positions during his eight-year tenure at Ooredoo Oman as Director of Business Marketing and most recently as the General Manager, Marketing Communication and Performance at Omantel. In 2017, he successfully completed Oman’s National CEO Program, which benefits individuals and corporations by preparing Oman’s brightest talent to compete in the global marketplace and aims to build the next generation of Omani leaders. Said wants to use the skills gained from the CEO program to promote Oman and OCEC as a hub for regional and international conferences and exhibitions along with live events, as well as showcase Oman's natural beauty and true essence.
SAMIRA HILAL AL-NAAMANI
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND CORPORATE SERVICES
Samira Al-Naamani serves in the position of Director of Finance and Corporate
Services at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, after joining the team in 2015. Her responsibilities
include key stakeholder communications, implementation and management of company-wide financial systems,
reporting and budget development, among many others.
Al-Naamani brings with her an impressive history of experience in finance and accounts across the
hospitality and tourism sector. Having joined the pre-opening team at Grand Hyatt Muscat, she went on to
spend 18 years with the company, working her way to the position of Director of Finance and
Administration.
She holds an Associate Degree in Finance and Accounting from Modern College of Business and Science in
Muscat, Oman.
DR SALIM AL FILITY
DIRECTOR OF VENUE OPERATION
Dr Salim has held leading positions in Oman's government and private sectors since 2004. Having previously worked in the healthcare and oil & gas sectors, he is now contributing towards Oman's tourism industry by providing his leadership and management expertise to OCEC. His 18 years of successful career was preceded by bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Duquesne in Pennsylvania, US. His field of expertise is based on his exposure (both in the US and in Oman) in the areas of leadership, management and administration. He earned his PhD in Leadership and Health Care Administration in 2015 from the University of Phoenix. He is a member of the Oman Society of Human Resources Management and a certified Global HR professional by the Society of Human Resource Management.
GILLIAN TAYLOR
DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Gillian has over 25 years of experience in the meetings industry spanning from Australia to the Arabian Gulf. Gillian has been instrumental in leading OCEC's bid strategy, resulting in the Centre winning over 24 highly acclaimed global and regional conferences that have contributed over US 65 million to Oman's economy. Among the many awards Gillian has won are the IMEX Academy Award for Africa and the Middle East, the SITE (Society of Incentive Travel Executives) Crystal Award (three times winner) and the Oman Women Leaders Awards 2019 – part of the World Women Leadership Awards which 'recognize the finest female leaders and achievers in organizations which believe in producing leaders'. Gillian has held various board positions including on SITE Middle East and Africa and the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Business Events Sydney). Gillian now sits on the Oman Government Tanfeedh Advisory initiative for the Oman Convention Bureau.
HASSAN AL LAWATI
DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS & GOVERNMENT LIAISON
Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (OCEC) Board of Directors appoints the
former Deputy General Manager of Oman International Exhibition Centre Hassan Ramadhan Suleiman Al
Lawati, as the Director of Corporate Affairs and Government Liaison.
Hassan's career spans 34 years of experience in the private and government sector, including the Office
of Deputy Prime Minister for Finance and Economy (Ministry of Finance) and Office of the Special Advisor
for His Majesty for External Liaison for 12 years. As successful banker with Oman International Bank
(OIB) doing impactful and growth-oriented work, and building collaborative and customer-oriented
products he steered the bank to a record-breaking growth in revenue and profit. He has also held the
post of former Deputy General Manager of Oman International Exhibition Centre. Hassan’s awareness of
what is going on around him, experience and intellect make him the right choice to handle OCEC's
corporate affairs and government liaison. Hassan is driven by passion is open to ideas. He leaves no
stone unturned in realizing his goals.
TROY REYNOLDS
DIRECTOR OF EVENT OPERATION
Troy is a true expert in managing complex meetings, conventions, exhibitions and/or special events by presenting the ideal event design that guarantees success. He loves helping event planning sort through complex event requirements to get to the best event solution. His motto is: "Anything is possible”. He uses a potent combination of experimentation, expertise and intuition, which makes him the 'go-to' event operator. Not the sort who plans events through just meetings, he believes in being in middle of the action as he strongly believes that the smartest event advice is never general, but rather is tailored to the unique characteristics of an event stakeholder's situation. He feels that there is always a smarter way of operating, a smarter event arrangement, a smarter event solution.
